1. Subject
1.1 This agreement governs the use of the Windows software Kanora (“Software”), including its updates. It applies to the trial version, beta versions, and the unlocked full version.
1.2 License keys (“keys”) are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as reseller (Merchant of Record). Purchase, payment, invoicing, taxes, and your statutory right of withdrawal are governed by Lemon Squeezy’s terms shown at checkout. This agreement only covers your rights to use the Software.
2. Trial and beta versions
2.1 Without a key, the Software can be used as a free trial with limited features (for example a limited number of saved runs, some features locked).
2.2 Beta versions are free pre-release versions for testing. They may contain bugs, expire on a date shown in the Software, and lock themselves afterwards; your saved data stays on your PC. A beta does not entitle you to the later full version.
3. License to the full version
3.1 Purchasing a key grants you a simple, perpetual, non-exclusive right to use the Software for private and professional purposes.
3.2 One key covers one Windows PC at a time. Activation runs online through Lemon Squeezy. You can release the key at any time in the Software under Settings → License (“Deactivate this device”) and then activate it on another PC. There is no limit on the number of handhelds you measure with that PC.
3.3 You may not publish your key or share it with other people for simultaneous use. You may pass the license on to another person only as a whole: deactivate the key on your PC first and stop using the Software afterwards.
3.4 If there are reasonable grounds to suspect misuse (for example a published key or an unusually high number of activations), a key may be blocked. You will be notified in advance at the email address used for the purchase and can respond.
4. Online check
To activate and occasionally verify the key, the Software connects to Lemon Squeezy. If the check is not possible (for example without internet access), an already activated license remains usable; only an explicit rejection by Lemon Squeezy (for example after a refund) ends the activation. The privacy policy on kanora.dev explains which data the Software transmits.
5. Not permitted
You may not bypass, remove, or modify the license check. Decompiling and reverse engineering are only permitted where mandatory law allows it (Sections 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act).
6. Your handheld
Kanora reads measurements from your Android handheld over ADB and launches apps when you ask it to. Enabling developer options and USB debugging is your responsibility. Measurements are approximations and may vary by device.
7. Defects
Your statutory rights regarding defects remain unaffected. For the purchase, they are directed at Lemon Squeezy as the seller. Regardless of that, we fix reported bugs with updates where possible.
8. Liability
8.1 We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and for fraudulently concealed defects.
8.2 For slight negligence, we are only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfillment makes use of the Software possible in the first place and on which you may rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of agreement.
8.3 For the free trial and beta versions, only 8.1 applies; liability under 8.2 is excluded.
8.4 Please back up important data regularly; in case of data loss, we are only liable for the effort that restoring it would have required had it been backed up regularly.
9. Third parties and trademarks
9.1 The Software contains open-source components. Their licenses are listed in NOTICES.md in the installation folder and take precedence over this agreement for the respective component.
9.2 Product and device names mentioned are trademarks of their respective owners. Kanora is an independent product and is not affiliated with these manufacturers.
10. Changes
New versions of this agreement only apply to versions installed after their publication. Rights already acquired under Section 3 will not be restricted.
11. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country where they habitually reside. If any provision is invalid, the rest remains in effect.
